EARLY MONTANA SETTLER PASSES
Mrs. F. H. Albee, Former Deer Lodge Resident, Dies on Coast.
DEER LODGE, Dec. 28. Special News of the death of Mrs. F. H. Albee which occurred at 11 p. m. December 27, reached Deer Lodge this morning. Mrs. Albee had been in poor health for a long time.
She was born in Kentucky in 1857, and when very young moved with her parents to Unionville, Mo.. where in 1873 she was married to Frank Harvey Albee.
In 1882 they came to Deer Lodge, meeting her brother. H. B. Davis, who preceded them some years before. They made the overland trip in a covered wagon, and endured the. hardships and dangers that had been experienced by the hardy pioneers who blazed the trail to the frontier at that time. Deer Lodge had been their home until 13 years ago, when they moved to Los Angeles.
Mrs. Albee counted her friends by her acquaintances, and no needy person ever appealed to her in vain for assistance. She was always ready and willing to help those in trouble.
She is survived by her husband. F. H. Albee, three daughters, Mrs. J. A. Shaw of this city. Mrs. H. J. Merkle, Portland. Ore., Mrs. R. L. Lail of Los Angeles, Calif., and four sons, Don Albee, Wisdom; B. H. Albee and F. H. Albee Jr., of Deer Lodge, and Will Albee of Los Angeles. She Is also survived by a brother, H. B. Davis of Pomona, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Bessie D. McClellan of Long Beach, Calif.
The funeral will be held from the family home. 226 North Vendome street, Los Angeles, on Saturday; Dec. 31.
