CHARLES ATZBACH

WASHINGTON -- Charles S. Atzbach, 65, of School Street, died Monday, March 24, at the hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y., after a short illness. He was born in West Haven, April 17, 1909, son of the late Charles and Nellie (MacClair) Atzbach. He retired five years ago as supervisor of probation officers of the Children's Court in the Bronx, N.Y. Mr. Atzbach had resided in Washington for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Washington Club, a golfing club. An ardent golfer, Mr. Atzbach was program chairman of the Washington Golf Course. He leaves his widow, Grace (Sandberg) Atzbach, of Washington; a son, Lt. Charles S. Atzbach Jr. of Hamden; and three grandchildren. Private funeral services were held Wednesday in the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, with Rev. Haig Nargesian of St. John's Episcopal Church officiating. Burial was in Washington Green Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the New Milford Animal Welfare Society.
