Carey L. Brockman , 83, of Chatham, died on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Carey was born April 28, 1931, in Sangamon County, the son of Sam Coy and Minnie Jones Brockman. He married Margaret Smith on Nov. 23, 1959, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1992.

He was a cook for St. John's Hospital retiring in 1976 after 20 years of service. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan; he enjoyed shoveling snow, mowing grass and playing solitaire.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Brockman ; two brothers, John A. and Lucien C. "LC" Brockman ; and two sisters, Emma L. Fisher and Sarah Barbee.

He is survived by one daughter, Bev (Gary) Camerer of Chatham; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Ellinger-Kunz & Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Hanson officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Cemetery.
