January 9, 1925 - The engagement has been announced of Miss Hazel LaFetra, daughter of Mrs. Lily LaFetra, and Armand Gentil, both of Mineola. Mr. Gentil is the son of Mrs. George C. Ashby and is well known in Sayville, where he spent his early childhood."
August 13, 1926 - "News has been received here of the birth on Saturday, July 31st, of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Armand Gentil of Mineola. The baby's name is Rodney Armand Gentil. Mr. Gentil, who lived here in his childhood, is the son of Mrs. George Ashby."
In 1930, Armand Gentil, aged 26, was living at 130 Wheeler Avenue, Mineola, NY, with his wife, Hazel Gentil, aged 24, and son, Rodney Gentil, aged 4, in the home of his mother-in-law, Lily Lafretra, aged 53, with Le Roy Lefretra, aged 30, and Marion Lafretra, aged 21, and Edward Elways, aged 65. Armand was shown to be an engineer for a hardware company.
On March 12, 1942 Armand Gentil enlisted in the Navy, and released from duty on November 7, 1945, serving as a Chief with the Seabees in Guadalcanal.
Obituary - Armand E. Gentil, 83, of Mineola, L.I., a retired electrical engineer, was buried yesterday following a funeral service in Fairchild Chapel, Garden City, L.I. He died of a heart ailment in Monday, Providence, R.I.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a son, Rodney; a daughter, Cheryl Roberts, and five grandchildren.
