Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Henry Raymond Johnson “Ray”, age 90, of Cloquet, MN, died November 26, 2011 at Sunnyside Health Care Center. He was born December 6, 1920 in Thomson Township, MN. “Ray” graduated from Esko High School, and went into the United States Navy where he served during World War II. After the war, Ray worked at Potlatch for 42 years and during that time became an accomplished first class sheet metal worker. In that time he remodeled 2 houses and built a new home for his wife and 4 kids. He was a member of the Cloquet Co-op Credit Union and served on the credit committee for 20 years. Ray was also a member of the Cloquet Presbyterian Church. He and Ruth enjoyed traveling the country and took several trips from coast to coast. He loved sampling fresh seafood cuisine of both coasts and especially enjoyed his daily coffee routes throughout Cloquet and Duluth. “Ray” was an avid reader and had mastered the daily crossword puzzles. Family was important and he assisted his kids with their many house remodeling projects. Ray and Ruth spent much of their time with their grandchildren traveling around the state and of course their week at the lake was a treat for all of them. He is loved and missed by all.

The son of Anna and Charles Johnson, he was the youngest of 6 siblings, sisters Walma Matta, Veinna Maunu, brothers George, Carl and Walter. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Ellen Johnson (Gilson) and children, as well as grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. memorial service at the Cloquet Presbyterian Church. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet to assist them with arrangements. See their online guest book at www.nelsonfuneralcare.net.
