Walter A. Chmiel, age 80,of Houston passed away on December 10, 2012.He was born in Bremond on April 9, 1932 to Anton and Annie Chmiel. He was the youngest of eight of eight siblings. Walter met his wife Nancy at a Christ of King CYO meeting in the early 1950's and they were married there on October 3, 1953. Immediately fellow their marriage they moved to Highland Falls, New York near where Walter was stationed at the US Military Academy at West Point. After his military commitment was completed Walter and Nancy returned to Houston where they raised their children and were married for 28 years until her untimely death in 1981.


Walter worked many years in the beverage industry for Coca Cola, Pepsi and Southwest Distributing Co (Budweiser) before moving into the home remodeling business as a self employed contractor. His most prized building was his hand-built home in San Leon, Texas, known as the "River Oaks of San Leon."


In 1990 he met Cora Blair and they married in 1999. Walter and Cora spent many years traveling the country in their RV meeting many dear friends along the way. They returned to Houston and retired to Manvel, Texas.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Finch Chmiel; an infant daughter in 1954; his parents; sisters, Willie Mae Klotz, Chirstine Chmiel, Janie Baranoski, Bernice Smith, Josephine Klotz and Pauline Szafranski; and brother, Frank Chmiel.


Walter is survived by his wife, Cora Blair Chmiel, who was his constant companion and lovingly devoted to him for the pas 22 years; a son, Michael A. Chmiel; A daughter, Kathleen Chmiel Curl (Mike); grandsons, Micheal W. Stephens (Lizbeth)and Thomas D. Curl; Great grandchildren, Timothy and Maggie Jo.


Walter will be truly missed by his family and will forever


be in their hearts.
