Janis was the daughter of Robert Paul Evert and Lila Noreen Orr. She attended Ben Lomond High School in Ogden, Utah. She and her husband were happily married for 26 years. She worked as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service for 18 years.
At the time of her passing, Janis was survived by her husband, one daughter, two sons and their wives, her mother-in-law, three grandchildren, two sisters, two step-siblings, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. Roland Orr and Marjorie Dean Tompson, her parents, sisters Roberta Sue Simonich and Marjorie Dean Evert, brothers Lamonte Richard Evert and Samuel DeGrassy Evert, and one nephew, Clair Bear Olson.
