Albert "Art" Arthur Barr, Sr., 76, of Greenwood, passed away March 17, 2015. The son of Ernest Clelle, Sr. and Helen Watson Barr, Albert was born May 21, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was a radiator repairman for 60 years with Indianapolis Radiator Works, having purchased the business in 1977. Albert was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge #694. For 20 years, he was a volunteer fireman with the White River Township Fire Department; for 13 years was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and for 6 years was a Deputy Town Marshall in Bargersville.
On October 16, 1954, he married Lois L. Groomer. Survivors include his wife, Lois of Greenwood; son, Albert (Kathryn) Barr, Jr. of Indianapolis; daughters, Connie Gibson of Indianapolis, Arlene (Donald) Perry of Mooresville, Annette (Richard) Thompson of Indianapolis, Dana (Kenneth) Cowell of Mooresville; brothers, Ernest C. (Patricia) Barr, Jr. of Princes Lake and Steven (Deeva) Barr, Sr. of Indianapolis; sister, Marci Carlin of New Hampshire; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Albert was preceded in death by brothers, Bill, Donald, Robert, Charles and Jimmy Barr and sister, Patricia Rush.
Funeral services 11:00 a.m. March 30, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home – 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on March 29, 2015 at the funeral home where a Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
