Lewis “Lew” Ayers III, age 59, of Old Fort, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at his residence. Lew was born in Champaign County, Illinois on September 28, 1955 and was a son of the late Priscilla Jan Dorman and Lewis “Lew” Ayers, Jr. and wife Marsha of Sevierville, Tn. Lew had a great passion for landscaping and designing landscapes and loved working with plants. He attended school to study horticulture. He served in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard. While living in New Jersey he was involved in Civil War Reenactments.
Surviving Lew in addition to his father and step-mother is one brother, Eric Ayers and wife Linda of Sault Saint Marie, MI and one sister, Cassie Ayers Hart and husband Ronny of Live Oak, FL.
