Nicholas A. Garrett Nicholas Alexandre Garrett, 23, of Dalton, ascended the heavens to be with the Lord on May 23, 2005, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Nick graduated top of his class from the Georgia Aviation and Technical College in Eastman.
He gained certification in the following areas: Instrument Rating Course, Private Pilot Certification Course-Airplane Single Engine Land, Additional Aircraft Rating Course-Airplane Multi-Engine Land, Commercial Pilot Certification Course, Flight Instructor Certification Course - Airplane Single Engine and King Air 200 certification.
He worked for Sky Signs of Conway, S.C.
Nick was a life-long member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jim and Georgia Lee Garrett.
He is survived by his fiance, Tammy Russell of Dalton; parents, Rick and Phyllis Garrett; brother and sister-in-law, Jonathan Andrew and Kerri Garrett and niece, Laura Beth, all of Dalton; maternal grandparents, R.L. and Ruby Foster; aunts and uncles, Libby and Jimmy Slaughter of Crandall, Jimmy Garrett, Randy and Lucia Garrett of Atlanta, Richard Garrett of Dalton, Mike and Susanne Crow of Eton, Phil Foster of Dalton, Margaret Harris of Ringgold, Pam and Dennis Cudd of Dalton; an adopted uncle, Sato de la Cruz; special friends, Chris Swilling and Fred and Susan Toney, all of Dalton.
The funeral will be at 6 p.m. today at Grove Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Staten officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home Thursday.
