For over thirty years, Katherine was "Ms. Yen", dedicated elementary school and Special Education teacher, with the San Francisco Unified School District. Politically active with the California Teachers Association (CTA), she solicited support for passage of school bonds and initiatives. Katherine was elected as Director, representing the state of California, for the National Education Association (NEA).
Katherine was a longtime and very active Collegian and Co-worker at the Pacifica Moose Lodge #1944 and Women of the Moose #1595, where she forged many friendships.
She was an avid adventurer and loved to travel, especially by sea. She loved the theater and ballet, and attended countless performances of the Nutcracker performed by the San Francisco Ballet with her family.
She will be forever remembered for her devotion to her family, her students and her Moose family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m, at the Pacifica Moose Lodge, 776 Bradford Way, Pacifica, CA 94044.
Donations can be made in her name to the United Educators of San Francisco Scholarship Fund or the Pacifica Moose Lodge Moosehaven Fund.
