Floyd D. Abendroth, age 81, of Appleton, died on November 3, 2007, at his home. Floyd was born on May 24, 1926, in Appleton, to the late John and Margaret (Donat) Abendroth. He married Pat Gillespie on August 8, 1957, in Appleton; she preceded him in death on March 20, 2002.
Floyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a lifetime and faithful member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Floyd was employed as a machine operator at Kimberly Clark Corporation, retiring in 1988. He was an avid Packer fan, enjoyed fishing, his dogs and the time spent with his family. Floyd was well known for his garden, especially his tomatoes.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Abendroth, Batavia, IL; his son, Randall Abendroth, Madison; his son, James (Rebecca Kent) Abendroth, Appleton; his daughter, Terry Abendroth, Campbell, CA; and his son, Paul Abendroth, Appleton; his four grandchildren, Charles and James Yankowski, Andrew and Isabelle Abendroth; his sisters Florence Popp, Appleton, and Betty Kohl, Appleton; his brother-in-law, Bud Puls and his sisters-in-law, Mary Abendroth and Eunice Abendroth. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Leonard Abendroth, Margaret Schroeder, Irene Salm, Eugene Abendroth, Richard Abendroth and Ruth Puls.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2007, at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Robert Raasch officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Appleton, on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again directly at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in his name.
