DEATH OF J. W. MILAM
The remains of Mr. Joab Milam, who died in Herrin, Ill., reached here Tuesday morning, and were carried to the home of his daughter, Mrs. S. J. Edmonds in West End, the interment being made at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wednesday morning. The services were conducted by Rev. Charles Lowrey, son-in-law of the deceased, at his request. Mr. Milam was about 71 years of age and a former resident of this county. He was the father of a large family of sons and daughters, twelve of whom survive him. Two daughters, Mesdames S. J. Edmonds and Will Riley, are residents of this place, while the sons and three daughters live in Herrin, Ill. His wife preceded him to the grave a few years ago, having died suddenly. Mr. Milam realized that death was near and expressed himself as ready to go. The remains were accompanied here by three of his sons, Messrs. Clark, Henry and Denis Milam, and his son-in-law, Rev. Charles Lowrey. Mr. Ben Milam, a brother of the deceased, is a resident of this place.
