Jan was the daughter of Annie Ruth Shaver Polk and the late Jack Harmon. She was a 1967 graduate of Lanett High School, Lanett, AL, she then married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Vaughn and they had one daughter, Alison and one son, J. Eric Vaughn.
