Apolonia / Lena Marie Zuris was the daughter of Stanilaus Charles Joseph Zurys/Zuris, a Lituhanian immigrant, and his wife Stanislova Stella M Podsiadlo/Sadler Zurys/Zuris, a native of Austria. She was born & raised in Elmira, NY, the oldest of at least 11 children.
Records conflict on birth date, and it is incorrectly reported on her death certificate and headstone. She is listed in 1900 census as being born July 1896, which was overwritten to be July 1895. Baptism record clearly gives July 29 1895 as her birth date when she was less than a week old.
I have not yet been able to find her in the 1910 census.
She first married Benjamin Shaw in Indianapolis, IN on December 16, 1918.
At the time of her death in 1958, she was married to Carl Dodsworth, and had been living at French Camp in San Joaquin Conuty, CA for over 18 years.
Cause of death was acute anterior myocardial infarction.
