Kenneth Lee Cox, Jr. was born in Modesto, California on May 10, 1954, but spent his early childhood in Big Spring, Texas, where his father was serving in the US Air Force.

He moved to Ceres, California in 1963, where he completed his elementary and high school education. He also attended Modesto Jr. College.

In high school he was on the golfing and wrestling teams, and he became a valuable soloist in the Ceres High School band, playing the B-Flat Coronet. Music was a very important part of his life and there were very few wind or string instruments he couldn't play. He especially loved to play the guitar and sing folk and blue-grass music with his like-minded, musical friends.

However, his greatest passion was fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and was an accomplished marksman, even with a sling shot. His favorite side-kicks throughout his life were his faithful dogs.

While in high school Ken began to learn aspects of the construction industry by virtue of employment in his family's heating, air-conditioning, and plumbing business. Those skills served him well where ever he lived.

Eventually, he moved to Alpine, Texas, to be near his partner's family. It was there that he died of a stroke on December 16, 2014.

Immediate survivors include his loving partner, Vada Alland; mother, Gerri Gorney; father, Kenneth Lee Cox, Sr.; siblings, Karyn Cox Rainone (Rick) and Kevin Cox; nephew, Matthew Siciliani, Jr. (Reba); niece, Heather Cox Pufall (Justin); and step-siblings, Cynthia, Douglas and Mark Andrew Gorney; his maternal grandmother, Ruby Handy; aunts, Patricia Egan, Betty Casaus, and Georgene Silva; grand niece, Hannah Siciliani; and grand nephews, Conner and Grayson Pufall.

A Memorial Service for Ken will be held at the Lakewood Funeral Home Heritage Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
