Jonathan was the son of Thomas Roberts and Sarah Strickland of Newtown, Queens Co., Long Island, NY. He married Mary ___, probably in the 1698-1702 period. They relocated to Hopewell, old Burlington Co., NJ, in what subsequently became Trenton Twp., old Hunterdon Co., NJ (now Trenton/Ewing, Mercer Co.). He was a yeoman, and a resident of Trenton, at the time he made his will on 27 Nov. 1720. He died before 4 Apr. 1721, when the will was proved.

Jonathan and Mary had 7 children, as follows:

1. Jemima, m. Solomon Maxwell;
2. Mary, m. 1st Thomas Morrell, m. 2nd Robert Combs;
3. Martha;
4. Keziah (linked below), m. Anthony Cook;
5. Sarah;
6. Elizabeth;
7. Nicholas, b. 1720/21.

Note: Jonathan may be buried in the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ewing, Mercer Co., NJ, based on his residence in old Trenton Township and the interment of other relatives in that location.
