Ruby Opal Hilburn, born in Missouri on April 7, 1915, passed away on December 13, 2007, after her long journey of 92 years.
Visitation will be held on Monday December 17th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Myers Chapel in Porterville. A chapel service will be held on Tuesday December 18 at 1:00 Pm at Myers Chapel. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Porterville.
She worked as a psychiatric Technician for Porterville Developmental Center until she retired, and went on to become a senior companion for 12 years, prior to 2000.
Ruby was a very loving and unselfish person, with a love for country music, dancing, the Dodgers and was always ready to go to the casino. She enjoyed family get togethers, sitting in her porch swing with neighbors “getting the scoop”.
She is survived by one sister Viola Neal of West Point, California; grandchildren Leigh Myer of Porterville, Debbie Williams of Moreno Valley, California, Terri Freeman of New Hampshire, Kenny Mayes of Porterville, and Angie Lindsay of Newberry Springs, California.
She also had eight great grandchildren Jamie Risner, Pamela Curviel, Amanda and Cori, Timothy and Joshua, Matthew and Kathrine. She also had two great great grandchildren Destiny Raffel of Visalia and Jacob Curviel of Moreno Valley, California.
She was preceded in death by her three children Kenneth Mayes, Robert Macagno, and Judith Myer-Freeman; one brother Buck Durham and sister Margie Fiori.
