Gerald William McDonald
Gerald William McDonald, 53, husband of Margaret Denny McDonald of 605 W. Market st., West Chester, died yesterday at Elsmere VA Hospital, Delaware after a long illness.
Born in Mildred, Pa., he was a son of the late Patrick and Martha Daly McDonald and graduated from Mildred High School.
Before moving to West Chester, n 1959, he owned and operated a farm in Sullivan County.
He also was employed at the Paoli Pike Elementary School.
Mr. McDonald served in the U.S. Navy in World War II as a gunners mate, second class. He was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.
He was a member of St. Agnes Church, West Chester, Fraternal Order of Eagles, West Chester, American Legion, Mildred, Veterans of Foreign Wars, West Chester, and the Military Order of the Cooties.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons and a daughter: Robert E. and Kevin of Dushore, Pa.; Gerald of Copper Cove, Tex., and Maureen, wife of Patrick Flyn of Dushore.
Four brothers and two sisters also survive: George of Mildred; Bernard of Ardmore, Okla.; Eugene of Jacksonville, Fla.; Paul of Hyattsville, Md., and Alice, wife of Charles Robb (sic) of West Chester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Church, West Chester at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with interment in St. Agnes Cemetery.
