Funeral For Joseph Aumann to Be Held Saturday
Joseph Aumann, 62, a charter member of the Mantiowoc Marine band, died this noon at the home, 1815 Franklin street. He has been ill for several months.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the St. Boniface church.Mr. Aumann was born in this city in 1874 and always resided here. He came of a musical family. His father, F.X. Aumann, played the bass viol in some of the first orchestras in the county. His nine sons all took up music.
Member of Arions
When the Arion band was at the height of its popularity more than 40 years ago six of the Aumanns including Joseph, were members. When the Marine band was organized by Director Frank Moser, Joseph Aumann was enrolled as one of the charter members.
He continued his membership in the band for many years. In February, 1935, eight Aumann brothers formed a double male quartet which participated in a church show.
Conducted Repair Shop
In recent years Mr. Aumann conducted a shoe repair shop at his home on Franklin street.
Survivors are seven brothers, Gustave, Frank, Max, William, Louis, Walter and Edward, all of this city; and a sister, Mrs. George Jorsch, Rhinelander.
The body is at the Pfeffer funeral home.
