Mrs. Clarke (Verta) Anderson, 84, of Floyd, died Wednesday, December 31, 1986, at her home. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 3, at the Grace United Methodist Church, Floyd. Rev. Charlotte Mallott, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd.

Verta A. Elliott was born November 3, 1902, on a farm west of Rockford in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, to Charles and Katie Milloy Elliott. She attended rural school and graduated from Rockford High School in 1920. In 1924 she graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught school in Ochevedan, Floyd Consolidated School and in Floyd County rural schools.

On June 22, 1926, she and Clarke Anderson were married at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They farmed the Anderson Farm southwest of Floyd.

She was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Happy Hour Club, Friday Card club, Former Rural Teachers, Royal Neighbors, 60 plus club, and the Farm Bureau.

She is survived by a son, Roger Anderson, Webster City; three daughters Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Platt and Mrs. Dight and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarke, and two sisters Cecil Neale and Charlotte Anderson Boudinot.
