Yama Marie (Scott) Douglas was born in Shelbyville, Indiana in 1960. She moved to Albuquerque with her father and mother.

Eventually, through a series of precarious events, Yama met the man she would remain with for the rest of her days.

Jerry W. Douglas and Yama became pregnant when Yama was young and gave birth to a daughter. The couple were married in August of 1978 in Columbus, Ohio.

Six years later, Yama gave birth to a son. Two years after that, a daughter. Sadly, only 8 months after her baby was born - Yama succumbed to a birth defect that had gone undetected.

At the age of 25, she suffered a heart attack and multiple organ failure. She was in a coma for only a short time before life support no longer could keep her alive. She died in the company of her husband, and several people from the church she attended. She was followed in death by her grandmother, Leona Megerle, and mother, Bonnie Lundin.

Yama was a very even tempered and level headed young woman. She had many friends that she helped to support when they were down, and was a gift to everyone she met. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.
