Robert J. “Mr.B” Boreri, 84 years old, died on Saturday evening, April 4, 2015, in the Royal of Tabers Nursing Home, New Bedford, following long illness.

Born in Taunton, son of the late Stephen and Mary (Romani) Boreri. Bob was a resident of Norton for 22 years, 25 years in Assonet and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, in Taunton. He was 1948 graduate of Coyle High School, in Taunton, attended St. Bonaventure College from 1948 to 1950 and Stonehill College from 1950 to 1952 where he received his Bachelors degree in History. He received his Master’s degree from Bridgewater State college.

“Mr.B”, as he was and is still known as, to countless thousands of former students, throughout the Diocese of Fall River and now the world, at the former Coyle High School in Taunton. He taught, boys to become men, at Coyle from 1952 to 1971. He was also very well known for his daily specials in the Café that he and the late Joseph Scanlon ran at Coyle. Bob then taught at Coyle- Cassidy, Bishop Stang High School and at Mulcahey School in Taunton for 12 years, before retiring in 1997. His total teaching career spanned 48 years. Bob was a member of the Elks, YMCA, Boys Club and the CYO. During his 20’s Bob served in the Massachusetts National Guard.

He is the father of Alicia Raposo and her husband Claudio of Somerset and Kurt Boreri of New Mexico. He is the grandfather of Eliana and Dimitri Raposo and Aidan and Roman Boreri. Bob is the former husband of Janice ( Leonard) Boreri . He is he brother of Marjorie Boreri of Taunton and Richard Boreri of Middletown, RI and the uncle of Karla Dutton, Susan Boreri, Stephen Boreri and Kevin Boreri.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Taunton, on Friday April 10, 2015 at 11AM. Visiting hours in the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave, ( Route 138 South) Taunton on Thursday from 4-8PM. Interment will be at a later date with his parents in St Francis Cemetery, Taunton.
