Verna was born to the late Virginia Peggy Kenner Gordon and Marvin YH. Gordon on June 27, 1951. She was loved dearly by her four surviving siblings; Virginia, Rulon, Gary, and Marva Jean.
In 1971, she married the love of her life, Joseph W. Crown, Jr. in the Salt Lake Temple and was able to enjoy nearly years as his wife. She has been blessed with six children and twelve beautiful grandchildren. Verna derived intense joy and satisfaction from her grandchildren; she often traveled great distances to ensure her bond was strong with each one of them.
Verna's life was filled with constant examples of kindness, patience, unconditional love and perseverance. Her exceptional ability to put others at ease and listen without judgment made her deeply loved by everyone who was fortunate to know her.
For most of Verna's adult life, she dealt bravely with a number of medical conditions. But she always emphasized that her life was not inhibited in any way, and focused on her family, her friends and her community. She never viewed herself as suffering; she simply and gratefully lived a full and abundantly happy life. She was often overheard saying, "Life is too short: Eat dessert first!"
A memorial service will be held Friday April 3rd beginning at 1:30 PM at the LDS Chapel located at 4950 S. 1950 W. in Taylorsville, UT.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the National Kidney Foundation https:/www.kidney.org/
