Born in Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Ashworth and Grace Foley Ashworth.
Art was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grifton and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
Art was truly a great family man.
He retired as a Pipe Fitter with DuPont.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Thompson Ashworth
Daughters, Patsy A. Cuddington and husband Timothy of Kinston and Debra A. Bonar and husband David of Grifton;
Granddaughter, Dana C. Bonar of Atlanta, GA; and brothers, Rayford Ashworth and Garland Ashworth and wife Shirley, all of Virginia.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Graveside services held Friday, April 10, 2015 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Reverend Jason Currie officiating.
