George Albert Barrio, 49, of Las Cruces, entered eternal life Friday, August 25, 1995, at his home. He was born February 20, 1946, in Las Cruces to Luis and Carolina Loya Barrio. Mr. Barrio was a 1974 graduate from New Mexico State University and, prior to his illness, he was an elementary school teacher in Salinas, California and a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include his brother, Antonio Barrio and his wife Olga, of Las Cruces; two nieces, Samantha and Marissa Barrio, both of Las Cruces; two nephews, Christopher and Paul Alaniz, both of Willmington, California; and, a brother-in-law, Willie alaniz, also of Willmington, California. Other survivors include many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Priscilla Alaniz in 1966, his father, Luis Barrio, in 1979, his brother, Louie Barrio, in 1983, and his mother Carolina Barrio in 1990.

Mr. Barrio will be reposing Monday, August 28, 1995, beginning at 5:00 PM in Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E Boutz Road where the prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral liturgy, Tuesday, August 29, 1995, at 10:00 AM at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S Espina, with Reverend Denis Tejada officiating. The rite of committal and interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1540 W Picacho Avenue where he will lay to rest.

Service as casket bearers will be Christopher and Willie Alaniz, Dick Romero, Eddie Hudson, Danny Rubio and Jimmy Loya. Honorary bearers will be Fred Rubio and Danny Gonzales.

Service arrangements are entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E Boutz Road, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
