Of Lansing, IL., passed away on Wednesday May 31, 2006. Mr. Chavez is survived by his children; Arthur (Maria) Chavez, Gloria Chavez - Gomez, Rita (Jose) Rosalez, Jose (Doreen) Chavez, Victor Chavez, Raquel (Paul) Gailbreth, Jesse (Lucy) Chavez, and Cecilia (Michael) O'Brien. 34 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, brother Jesse (Paula) Chavez, sister Carmen (Paul) Chico, brother Isidro "Squeeks" (Connie) Chavez, brother Raymond Chavez, brother Lupe Chavez, and sister "Little" Gloria Acevedo. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Carmen G. Chavez, son Antonio Chavez Jr., daughter Juanita Chavez, son Rudy Chavez, and son Alonzo Chavez. Funeral Monday June 5, 2006 at 11:00 am from First Baptist Church of Lansing, 3440 178th St. Lansing with Rev. Duane Keleman officiating. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Evergreen Park, IL. Visitation at the Schroeder - Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd. Lansing on Saturday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mr. Chavez was retired from the CTA after 28 years of service as a Ticket Agent, Veteran of WWII, member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Knights of Columbus Council #8595, and South Eastside Vietnam Veterans.
