Evelyn A. Cooper, age 89, a resident of the Manitowoc Health Care
Center, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 4, 2005, at the Center.
She was born March 14, 1916, in Abbotsford, daughter of the late John
and Rose Lishka Ellerman. Evelyn was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln
High School, Class of 1933. On May 28, 1938, she married Eugene B.
Cooper in Manitowoc. Evelyn and her husband owned and operated
Cooper's Bar (recently known as Nick's Bar) from 1964 to 1969. She
was a member of St. Francis of Assisi on Grand Ave. and a former
member of the St. Therese Society. Evelyn loved to shop and attend
rummage sales. Eugene preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1975.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Judi and Roger Nickels,
Manitowoc; Jeanie Cooper and special friend, Lee Merkel, West Bend; a
daughter-in-law: Lynn Walske Cooper, Manitowoc; six grandchildren; 17
great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren and a sister: Dorothy
Boeckman, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Don, Jack,
Fred and Eddie Ellerman; five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at The
Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating
at the Memorial Service will be the Rev. Dan Felton. Cremation has
occurred with burial of the cremated remains at Calvary Cemetery,
Manitowoc, at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home &
Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005,
until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cozy
Corners at the Manitowoc Health Care Center for their care given to Evelyn.
Evelyn was a person of strong spirit. Whatever health problems she was
confronted with, she over came them and looked forward to the next
day with optimum and love.
