OAKLAND TRIBUNE WED JAN 26, 1927
A city-wide manhunt was in progress here today for the bandit who shot down and fatally wounded Traffic Officer Parley L. bennett, 32, following a holdup in the Brodin Millinery store in the downtown business district.
Bennett died en route to the hospital late yesterday afternoon after attempting to prevent the escape of the bandit, who was trapped in the store after looting a safe of $70.
Son of Samuel James & Melinda (Hibbert) Bennett.
