Chas. Achor, 86, dies today

Charles Achor Sr., 86, of Apt 22 Venice Homes, Venice, a 76-year resident of the Quad-Cities, died at 6 a.m. today at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He had been hospitalized one week.
Mr Achor worked as a storeroom clerk for 50 years at General Steel Industries before he retired 18 years ago.
He was born in Nashville, Tenn., and was a member of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of an Amvet Post, and also Venice-Madison American Legion Post 307. During the late 1920s, he played baseball with the John Lee Sr. team known as the Venice Cubs.
His wife, Mrs. Margaret Achor, died in 1972.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Achor Jr., Madison, Clarence Achor, Venice, Arthur Achor, Granite City, and Walter Achor, Norfolk, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Elsie) Spiroff, and Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Lamar, both of Granite City; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
