Accident Victim Dies In Hospital

Man Struck By C. & E.I. Train Sunday Succumbs to Injuries Few Hours Later.

Injuries sustained at 10 o'clock Sunday morning when he was struck by a C. & E.I. freight train at Tenth and Locust streets proved fatal to William L. Lister, 66 years old, 2725 College Avenue at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon at the Union Hospital.

It was reported at the hospital that the victim of the accident had sustained besides a fractured skull, numerous lacerations and bruises about the body while both feet were badly mangled.

According to John Finnerty, a railroad employee, who witnessed the accident, Lister was walking south along the railroad tracks and apparently failed to notice the approaching train. The train was in charge of Conductor William Smith and Engineer A. Wahlfeldt, both of Danville, Ill.

The injured man was removed to the hospital in an Isaac Ball ambulance and taken to the P.J. Ryan funeral home following his death to be held pending funeral arrangements.

The police investigation of the accident was made by Radio Patrolmen Gundlach and Maloof.
