William “Bill” R. Newman is survived by his wife of 35 years, Candace Cheryl Newman; stepsons, Kevin Newman of Beech Grove, IN., Ryan Cope of Prarieville, LA.; stepdaughter, Melissa Lach of Carmel, IN.; twin sister, Wilma Orndorff; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, John Newman; mother, Hester Newman (Williams-Maiden); brothers, John Newman, Stanley Newman, Delmer Newman, Elmer Newman, Joseph Newman; sisters, Sarah Whitesell, Betty Manning, Josephine Meeks, Annabelle Gayso, Mary Lou Corona; son, Curt (2015).
Bill retired from MCSD after serving 27 years. Following retirement, Bill served as a Chief Investigator of the Attorney General’s Office, Chief of Police of Clermont, and for the past nine years, served the residents of Wayne Township as their Constable. He will truly be missed.
Service will be held at the Hope Baptist Church, 1055 N. Girls School Rd.; Indianapolis, IN, on Thursday, April 16, 2015. Viewing will be from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm with funeral services immediately following. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Hope Baptist Church.
