Paul E. Cheek, 69, of Oak View, CA, died unexpectedly Monday, January 11, 1988, at the Ojai Valley Hospital. He was born October 28, 1918 in Columbus. Dr. Cheek had been an Ojai, CA physician for the last three and a half years, coming from Akron, where he had been in general practice for the last 40 years. Dr. Cheek obtained his undergraduate degree from Otterbein College, Westerville, and his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, KY. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Society, California State Medical Society, American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Summit County Medical Society, and American Academy of Family Physicians. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of Tadmor Shrine Temple, Akron, Loyalty Lodge 645, Akron, Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton, and Yusef Khan Grotto. He was a member of Fairlawn West United Church of Christ in Akron. He is survived by wife, Marvil J. Cheek of Ojai, CA; daughters, Pam Free of Warren, NJ, Barbara Roduner of Akron, Deborah D'Amico of Ojai CA; sons, Lawrence and Steven, both of Akron; five grandchildren, David Roduner, Damien, D'Amico, Steven Cheeks Jr., Melissa Cheek and Andrew Free brother, John Cheek of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Mary Gale Golden of Fairfax, PA; aunt, Ruth Gates of Leominster, MA; aunt and uncle, Esther and Walter Mulzer; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Stalnaker, all of Ojai, CA. Services will be held today, January 15, 1988, at the Claussen Funeral Home Dr. Paul F. Fisher officiating. Interment Ivy Lawn Cemetery, Ventura, CA. Contributions may be made to Judy Resnik Scholarship Fund, care of Claussen Funeral Home, 310 E. Matilija St., Ojai, CA.
