He was born May 18, 1949 at Jimtown, a son of the late George and Lucy Miller Harlan.
On May 16, 1971, he was married to Doretta Violet Tenney Harlan who survives at Jimtown.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth James”Jimmy” Harlan and Aaron Harlan and wife Shelby all of Jimtown.
One daughter, Kayla Harlan and companion Chris Tackett of Jimtown, four brothers, William Harlan and wife Delores Jean “Hoppy” Harlan, Adolph, WV, Dale Harlan and wife Ann, Jimtown, Bert Harlan and wife Mary, Junior, WV, Jimmy Harlan and wife Sandy of Jimtown.
Seven sisters, Carolyn Elmore, Jimtown, Maryann Hodgkiss and husband Ed, Sunset Beach, NC, Mildred “Midgie” Thompson and husband Roger, Elkins, Brenda Currence and husband Dennis, Queens, Linda Biller, Kerens, WV, Barbara Sams and husband Mike, Parkersburg, WV, Patty Hodgkiss and husband Lawrence, Union Chapel, MD, eight grandchildren, Madison, Summer, Audrey, Autumn, Brody, Cody, Alissa and Allison, his mother-in-law, Ellen Tenny of Cassity, WV, sister-in-law, Terry Harlan of Jimtown, his best friend, Craig Mercier, several sisters and brothers-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one brother, Richard Harlan, his father-in-law, James Tenney and two brothers-in-law, Carl Elmore and Doug Biller.
Kenneth attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Coalminer for Rob Lee Coal Company for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing his Poker Machine and Milky Way Candy Bars.
He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
On Monday, April 13th, Mr. Harlan will be moved to the Phillips Chapel Church at Jimtown for visitation from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm the funeral hour.
Rev. Jim Murphy will officiate and interment will follow in the Harlan Family Cemetery at Jimtown.
The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Kenneth Neil Harlan.
