Survived by two sons and two daughters, and his sister, Helen Rotter. Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Catherine; sister, Angeline; and son, Daniel.∼Former longtime Grosse Pointe Woods resident John F. Abeli, 89, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Waltonwood at Lakeside in Sterling Heights.
He was born in Detroit to John Abeli and Anna Abeli and graduated from Cass Technical High School and the University of Detroit. A veteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II, he was a plant manager for Federal Mogul Corp.
Mr. Abeli enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Senior Men's Club of Grosse Pointe and the Grosse Pointe Rose Society.
