Clarence Vernon Willand
December 01, 1921 - April 12, 2015

Clarence Vernon Willand, age 93, passed away on April 12, 2015, surrounded by the love of his family at the Manly Nursing & Rehab Center in Manly, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice, Iowa, with Pastor Randy Baldwin officiating. Burial will take place at Sion Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Lake Mills.

Visitation for Clarence will be on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Clarence Vernon Willand, son of Wilhelm and Clara (Calgaard) Willand, was born on December 1, 1921. He was baptized and confirmed at Sion Lutheran Church. He attended school in rural Joice and graduated from Kensett High School in 1939. Clarence attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City before returning to Joice to help on the family farm.

Clarence was united in marriage to Fern Morris on August 29, 1948. They had three daughters, Pamela, Penny, and Vicki. Clarence has farmed his entire life and he and Fern have resided at their home in rural Lake Mills for the past 55 years. Clarence served many years on the Winnebago Rural Electric Cooperative board, Sion Lutheran Church Council and the Lake Mills Community School Board.

Clarence is survived by his wife Fern Willand; daughter Penny Nelson of Lake Mills; daughter Vicki Bartlett and her husband Dave of Forest City; son-in-law Mike Graham of Maryville, Missouri; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer Graham Zimmerman (Dan), Jeremy Nelson (Christina), Rachel Nelson (Jeff), Amanda Graham Langston (Mike), Anthony Nelson (Miranda), Andrea Bartlett Severson (James), and Samantha Bartlett. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren: Broden, Ryder and Hartford Zimmerman, Broderick, Brooklynn and Brayden Nelson, Madison and Ava Benesch, Andrew, Tate and Parker Langston, Sophia Gulick and Camdon Nelson; sister Myrtle Tapps of Mason City; and sister-in-law Carol Willand of Joice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm and Clara Willand; daughter Pamela Graham; and siblings Mildred Sorbo, Opal Solomonson, Walter Willand, Esther Bodde, Orin Willand, and Stanley (Bud) Willand.
