CLEARFIELD PROGRESS - FEBRUARY 3, 1995

Pearl Franklin, 100, free lance writer OSCEOLA MILLS - Mrs. Pearl A. Franklin, 100, a resident of the Care Free Manor in Osceola Mills and formerly of Clearfield, died on Thursday, Feb. 2, 1995, at the Philipsburg Hospital.
Born March 5, 1894, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of Joseph C. and Rachel A. (Woodel) Shovestul.
In 1917 she and her family moved to Akron, Ohio, living in seven different states before returning to Pennsylvania in 1960.
Mrs. Franklin was a freelance writer, whose stories, essays and verse appeared in various publications, including the Tower Press Inc. group. She had also been a contributor to newspapers, including the late George Scott's and Jean Natoli's columns in The Progress through the years.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Mrs. Wayne (Patcie) Wilkinson of Tallmadge, Ohio; a foster granddaughter, Jane Wisor of Woodland; two grandsons, Roger A. Paolucci of Tempe, Ariz., and Gene T. Paolucci of Jacksonville, Fla.j seven great- grandchildren; 13 great- great- grandchildren; two great- great- great- grandsons; one foster great- grandson; four foster great- great- grandsons; and a number of grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, William T. Rowles; her second husband, Earl Franklin; one son, J. Meryl Rowles; one daughter, D. Geraldine Anderson; and one brother and eight sisters.
A graveside funeral service will be held at the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland, on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor W. Lee Casher officiating.
The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, is in charge the arrangements.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the West Side United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 317 Nichols St., Clearfield, Pa. 16830.
