Rev. Elmer David (Doc) Abell, 80, of Pulaski, VA went home to be with his heavenly Father Saturday, September 13, 2008 in the Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born on , July 23, 1928 in Pulaski. Rev. Abell was a life-long member of the International Pentecostal Church of Christ until his illness kept him from attending. He was a retired employee of Pulaski Furniture. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. Abell and Minnie Yates Abell, by five sisters, Frances Abell, Louise Taylor, Blanche Hill, Evelyn Semones, Ruby Garlic and by two brothers, Ralph and Arnold Abell. Surviving are: sister Grace Thornton, NC; daughter and son-in-law Teresa A. & Donald Newman, Pulaski; grandchilden Chassity Lindsey & fiance, Charles Capretta, Michael Lindsey & wife Krista; great-grandchildren Chloe & Alyssa Capretta, Kayley Lindsey; step-grandchild Cheyeene Irwin. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM from the Stevens Futferal Chapel with the Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visiting will be Monday evening from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va.
