Rockton - Abram O. Long, a resident of Rockton the last 40 years, died Sunday afternoon in Memorial hospital, Tallahassee, Fla., of injuries suffered in a car accident at Perry, Fla. The accident occurred Saturday on his 71st birthday. He sufered crushing head injuries.
Mr. Long was born March 30, 1886, in Rock Grove township in Stephenson county in Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Long. The family moved to Durand, Ill., where Abram Long attended school and became a barber. He married LaVonne Angel on June 6, 1923. She died on 1953. He was a member of Rockton Masonic lodge 74.
Survivors are a son, Dale, Rockton; two stepsons, Paul of Tampa, Fla., and Jack of Moonachie, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Vida Moffitt of South Beloit and Mrs. Maude Kenyon of Rockton. His parents, three brothers Lester, Royda and Logan and a sister Mrs. Genevieve Hough, predeceased him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rockton Methodist church with the Rev. Carlton Williams officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted at the Rockton cemetery. The body is at the Rosman Uehling Kinzer mortuary in Beloit.
