Eleanore G. Gmeinder, age 94, resident of Brainerd, passed away April 13, 2015 at Woodland-Good Samaritan. Eleanore was born December 15, 1920 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Alfred and Doris Burns.
She graduated from St. Catherine University in 1942. She taught at St. Catherine's and Brainerd Community College. She and her husband, George, founded and worked Gull Lake Resort for many years. She served as president of the Minnesota Resort Association, Province Director Council of Catholic Women, and numerous other organizations.
She was married to George for 52 years and is preceded in death by him and her grandson, Tyler Gmeinder. She is survived by her four sons, Thomas (Gwen) Gmeinder, Robert (Betty) Gmeinder, Al (Barbara) Gmeinder, and Mike (Ruth) Gmeinder; nine grandchildren: Jennifer, Jessica, Tony (Christina), Katie (Josh), Aimee, Grant, Brianna, Chris, Brent(Nicole); eight great grandchildren: Josetta, Francisca, Kolton, Giorgia, Cale, Elsie, Gabriel, and Lucas.
Visitation to be 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 17 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, and a Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Saturday April 18 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with Father Daniel Weiske officiating. Lunch will be served following the service at St. Andrews. Graveside services at St. Thomas of the Pines at 3 p.m
