Stanley S. Check, age 80, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Stan was born on February 2, 1933 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Frank and Anna Kruzicki Check Sr. Stan graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1950. Following graduation, he worked at the Manitowoc shipyards for two years. Stan then served an electrical apprenticeship with Michalek Electric. On September 13, 1952, Stan married Leatrice Piper at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1996. In 1962, Stan and Leatrice started Stan Check Electric Inc. where he was president until his retirement in 1996. Stan and Lea had enjoyed several trips to Europe and Hawaii and would spend part of the winter in Florida. When he was not on the golf course, he enjoyed going to the cottage on Maiden Lake. Stan was an avid golfer and won both the Manitowoc County Open and Club Champ at Branch River Country Club several times. Stan was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Elks Club, and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include three sons: (Private), Newton; (Private), Manitowoc; and (Private), Whitelaw; granddaughter: (Private); brother: (Private); three sisters: (Private), (Private), and (Private); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: (Private) and (Private); special friend: (Private); also other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his son: Gregrey; daughter: Elizabeth; wife: Leatrice "Lea" Check; niece: Lori Hoopman; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Mary Piper; three brothers-in-law: Robert Kleman, Jack Konop, and Donald Christensen.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by (Private) with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday, December 19, 2013 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will be led by Deacon (Private) to conclude the visitation on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The visitation will continue on Friday at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo from 9 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
