Born July 25, 1940, in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Alvie Grant and Yvonne (White) Adams.
Mr. Adams worked for Pullman Standard and served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. He was a member of the Seger-Baun Post 582 American Legion of Rossiter, the Rossiter Veterans Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Punxsutawney and New Bethlehem. Mr. Adams enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include a son, Rodney "Pete" Adams and his wife, Michelle, of Mayport (Ringgold); two daughters, Kim Moore and her husband, Dave, of Brookville and Crystal Fleming and her husband, Ben, of Summerville; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pam Hillberry and her husband, David, Paulette Boggs and Annette Bradley and her husband, Donnie, all of Fairmont, W.Va.; and three brothers, Ron Adams and his wife, Diane, of New Bethlehem, Ron Cumpston and his wife, Debbie, of Morgantown, W.Va. and Tim Cumpston and his wife, Lisa, of Fairmont, W.Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody Miller; three sisters, Paula Schleicher, Patty Cumpston and Carol Orr; and two brothers, Alvin Clyde Adams and Dave Cumpston.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 18, at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the funeral home with lay speaker Barry Mitchell officiating. Immediately following the service the American Legion will honor their fallen comrade.
Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
