Michael Joseph Butler, 62, of Lakeville, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Michael was born on August 22, 1952 to the late Carlton Butler and Alice (Barradas) Butler. He was raised in Taunton, MA with his parents and late brother, Craig Butler.
Michael graduated from Taunton High School and attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and was a longtime employee of D.W. White and member of the Local 4 Union. Michael was also a passionate music lover, exceptional athlete, avid outdoorsman, and talented chef. He was known for his charismatic personality, sense of humor, and generous hospitality.
Michael married his wife Lorna (Rose) Butler in 1983 and they welcomed their son Michael C. Butler in 1987. The family lived in Lakeville, MA for many years in the neighborhood of Cedardale on Long Pond. He is survived by his wife Lorna, son Michael, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held honoring Michael on Saturday, April 18 at 11:30 am at St John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd, East Freetown, MA 02717. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 11:00 am in the church vestibule prior to the mass. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the Lakeville Eagles Club, 217 County Rd, Lakeville, MA 02347. Those who will not be attending the memorial mass are also welcomed to attend this celebration of Michael’s life.
