ALEX E. KARLIN

Mr. Alex E. Karlin, 77, formerly of First Circle, Manitowoc, died Friday morning, Aug. 3, at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home, LaCrosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Eugene Brochtrup S.D.S. will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Karlin was born Dec. 22, 1906, at Hays,Kansas, son of the late Peter and Beata Schmidt Karlin. He married Frances Tryon May 4, 1935, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death Feb. 16, 1980. Mr. Karlin was employed as a Marine Engineer on the Great Lakes and as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of Marine Engineers Beneficial Association and a former member of the Elks.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Ruth Karlin of LaCrosse; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Charles Wunderlich of Fountain City, Wis.; three brothers, Ralph Karlin of Riverside, Calif.; Edward Karlin of Hollandale, Fla., and Frank Karlin of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Arnold of Hollandale, Fla., and Mrs. Catherine Close of Manitowoc and five grandchildren, Brenda, Kelley, Peter, Christopher and Mark. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, William, Eugene and Leo and a sister, Clara.

Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday where a prayer service will be 8 p.m.
