DOROTHY KAUFMANN

Dorothy "Dottie" C. Kaufmann, age 87, of 2115 Cappaert Road, Manitowoc, died on Tuesday morning, Oct. 7, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1920, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Anton and Delia (Dirkmann) Krcma.Dorothy was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, class of 1938.
On Nov. 18, 1944, she married Harold (Harry) Kaufmann at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 18, 1994. He preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1998.
Dottie began her employment after high school graduation at Southside Hardware located in Manitowoc, where she was secretary/treasurer from 1938, until her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi and the Christian Women. Dottie was active in the Women's Bowling Association for 55 years, and a member of the Meadow Links Golf League for more than 25 years.
She was an avid bowler, and had the highest score in the sweeper to qualify for the first WBAY "Bowling With the Champs" television show and bowled ten other times on the show. She was a member of the Manitowoc 600 club, and received many awards on both city and state level during various bowling tournaments.Dottie was the first woman to be inducted into the Lakeshore Bowling Hall of Fame on May 3, 1995.
She also volunteered at Peter's Pantry for many years.
Dottie enjoyed playing cards and doing crafts and other activities at Harmony West.

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Ethel and Richard Hauck; a brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Jean Krcma; and a son-in-law: Dean Hornes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc.
Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
