Lyle graduated from Fannett Metal High School class of 1954. He started his college education at West Chester University. Lyle then married Marlene and transferred to Shippensburg University where he went on to earn his Master's Degree in Education. He was a teacher, vice principal and principal in the Shippensburg Area School District for 30 years. He had a passion for baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals being his number one team and his grandchildren have followed in his footsteps. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his summer vacations at Ocean City, NJ with his family.
He is survived by his wife, M. Marlene (Umbrell) Adams of nearly 60 years, three daughters: Robin (John) Baughman of Mechanicsburg, Rhonda D. VanArsdale of Avalon, NJ and Risa (Brian) Bartsch of Bloomington, IL, a brother, Dr. Lynn Adams of Shippensburg, four grandchildren: Thomas (Melissa) VanArsdale of Chambersburg, Taylor Bartsch of Bloomington, Johnathan Baughman of Mechanicsburg and Jenna Bartsch also of Bloomington and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Joseph VanArsdale.
Professional services are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Shippensburg. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 4 at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, with Chaplain John Winckler officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:00 PM until the time of services. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
