Before and during World War II, Alice worked for the Telephone Company. After the war when Lloyd Burr was discharged, they married and worked at Bastian and Blessing in Chicago, returning to Madison for the birth of their first born son, Charles, in 1947. She later worked for Madison General Hospital, Rennebohms, Montgomery Ward and retired from Madison Newspapers. She was preceded in death by her son Charles and husband Lloyd.
