Robert L. Aichele, 60, of Billings went home to be with his Lord August 2, 2002 after a battle with Leukemia. He died at home while surrounded by his family.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1941, in Denver to Clarence and Lucille Green Aichele. They moved to Laur-el in 1948, where he graduated from Laurel High School and joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1959 to 1963.
He married Marla McCracken on June 6, 1964, and was married 21 years until her death in 1985. Bob went to work for the Burlington Northern railroad as a carman and later advanced to budget manager. He later worked as a sales representative for Selover Buick from 1988 to the present time before his illness.
On Dec. 28, 1991, he married Myrna Topp Thompson in Sidney. They resided in Billings.
Survivors include his wife Myrna; two sons, Brian and Brandon, both of Billings; three stepsons, Jim Thompson of Billings, Tim (Mary) Thompson of Helena, and Steve (Billie) Thompson of Farmington, Minn.; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard (Ethel) Aichele of Billings and Ben (Cindy) Aichele of Alabama; a step-sister, Colleen (Bob) Derry of Washington. His parents also preceded him in death.
Visitation and prayer service will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th and St. Johns. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Yellowstone Lutheran Brethren Church, 852 Governors Blvd. Cremation will follow. Memori-als may be made to the Church or to Big Sky Hospice.
Bob will be very missed by his family, church, family and many friends. Blessed be the memory of Bob Aichele.

Navy radar course at Norfolk, Va. Aichele, a seaman apprentice, is now qualified
for assignment to a combat center aboard ship, Navy officials said.
