BETTY JANE WARNES SWING Born January 28, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2008. Betty Jane moved with her family to Riverside at the age of four where she attended Magnolia, Central, Poly High, and Riverside Community College. She was married to Davison "Bud" Swing on September 8, 1940 and is survived by her three children, Suzanne Howard of Issaquah, WA, Barbara Hutchinson of Tucson, AZ, and Cynthia Swing of Riverside, as well as five grandchildren, and three great-grandsons. B.J., as she was known by her friends, was loved by all. Her life was devoted to family and friends, creating a warm and welcoming home for those who crossed the threshold. She was a life long member of the United Methodist Church where her grandfather served as minister in the late 30's and early 40's. She was a member of P.E.O., Junior League, Assistance League, and the National Charity League. She also was active in efforts to preserve historic Riverside. Until the end, she maintained her home and kept in touch with family and friends from near and far. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A private graveside service will be held Thursday, March 13, 2008, and followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the "Betty Jane Warnes Swing" local scholarship fund, P.E.O.
