Lewis Franklin Cheek died April 18, 2015, in Katy. He was born on May 21, 1921, in Callahan County. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He married Myrtle A. Peyton on December 21, 1949. He graduated from Texas A & M with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951.

Preceding him in death were, his wife, Myrtle, and his three brothers, Dennis, Howard and Herbert Cheek. Surviving are his son, Michael Cheek, wife, Jessie, and five grandchildren, Timothy, Philip, Julia, Peter and Amy Cheek; sister-in-law, Yvonne Cheek, nephews and nieces and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Henry-Peyton Cemetery, in Benchley, at 2p.m. on April, 21. Trevino-Smith Funeral Home of Bryan, will be in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas A & M Scholarship Fund for the Corps of Cadets.
